The “2020 Guangdong Welders Vocational Skills Competition” was held in Zhuhai from November 28th to 30th. It was sponsored by the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangdong Province, and undertaken by the Guangdong Manufacturing Association, Zhuhai Manufacturing Association, and Zhuhai Technician College. After fierce competition, Zhang Bahu of the General Assembly Department of Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd (GSI) (subordinated by China State Shipbuilding Corporation – CSSC) won first place, and Wang Zhiguo of the Manufacturing Department won fourth place.
The Guangdong Welder Vocational Skills Competition's standards and requirements have always been known as "high standards and strict requirements." This competition is divided into theoretical and practical, and conducted by the national vocational qualification senior worker's level requirements. There are 36 players from 16 teams from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Macau, and other regions participating in the competition. They are all elites selected by enterprises, including GSI, DongFang (Guangzhou) Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co., Ltd, CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, CSSC Guangzhou Huanpu Shipyard Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd, Zhuhai Gree Electric Co., Ltd, China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Power Engineering Co., Ltd, and etc. These companies are the industry's best welder skills and reputation, and have trained provincial and even national technical experts.
It is understood that the competition awards are set to the first to six place (a reward amount of 5000-1000 yuan), and the honor of "Guangdong Province Technical Expert" and promotion to senior engineer/technician qualification will be awarded to qualified personnel.
Previously, GSI combined this competition to cultivate young and outstanding high-skilled talents, promote their long-term vision, improve skills, set an example, and inherit each other. After communicating with relevant departments, three persons, Zhang Bahu (24 years old), Tian Biao (25 years old) from the General Assembly Department, and Wang Zhiguo (32 years old) from the Manufacturing Department, were selected to participate in the competition. Two welding masters, Chen Qingcheng and Rao Yizhong, acted as training instructors to organize pre-match off-the-job training to improve the players' competitive level and truly achieve the effect of promoting training by competition.
